How to troubleshoot Websphere html instance failure

First of all,  refer to SVM as below

2. Check e1root.log for all environments in \WebSphere\AppServer\...\logs

3.  Check systemOut.log or systemErr.log

4. Try to manually start service in cd \WebSphere\AppServer\profiles\default\bin   " startserver  as_js_8888 Eg "

To see what servers can be started and stopped in that profile root's bin directory and what their status is, you can also invoke "serverStatus -all". 

5. After checking the systemOut.log...IF there is error such as

at org.apache.xerces.util.ErrorHandlerWrapper.createSAXParseException(Unknown Source) 

Try to restore security.xml from the earlier date of this file.  

note:  You may use websphere backup tool as located in \websphere\appserver\bin\backupconfig.bat and restoreconfig.bat
