Hi, AS4551 user pls put attentions as this model has been in alert for BIOS update. If your unit's BIOS version is not 1.11 , please visit acer.com.my for latest BIOS update. This is because old bios version would cause your laptop no display after long run.

Unzip the file and run in XP sysatem and then burn it into pendrive for CRISIS DISK rescue.

Steps of using CRISIS DISK :

2. Press ESC + Fn key at the same time while powering on the laptop. If the no display problem met the symptom, the pendrive will flash and update accordingly.

Cautions before using CRISIS DISK :

Test the Power Switch Connector

Symptom : Can't power on by pressing the front cover button

Possibilities : MBO, PSU,Power Switch Cable

The question is how to test the power switch cable if it is working. Actually, we short the 2 pins at MBO where these 2 are connected to blue and white connector by using flat screwdriver. After shorted, it's still no power. Then, we can be sure MBO and PSU problem.

note: If the 2 pins were shorted, it can power on itself Then I would say MBO, and PSU are working fine except the power switch cable.

Mostly of Acer Model desktop are using blue-white for power signaling

Hi, most of the laptop has their own thermal unit..Eg, thermal sink and fan...Let me explain briefly if your laptop needs for service.
Above acer models would need fan and thermal sink for service after few years use depending on the way how you use it.
1st off, download siw.exe tool to check your laptop HDD, processor, VGA temperature..You need to heat up the laptop before measuring the celcius correctly..Let's run several programs at the same time. Eg, play video, run hdd-scaning,

In the past, if processor ' s celcius exceed 80 celcius...or VGA exceed 70 celcius after 20-30min time...pls have the thermal unit serviced...

some facts :  Laptop will power off if celcius exceed 100 celcius or reboot w/o blue screen shown. Check ur eventviewer in win7 if the "Kernel power -41" exist ?
