Package deployment in JDE

Hi, Let 's talk something about package  deployment in JDE..It's been one of the essential jobs in JDE if certain user wanted to have latest object , whatever enhancement made in their E1.

Requirements:
- It can be done on fat client or deployment server.
- package build machine must have C++ compiler Eg, MS VC++ 2005 distribution pack..
- machine to be deployed has to have the compiler. Otherwise, it would have "Business function library load
failed"
- full package must be used instead of update package for those machine which has no E1 installed.
- update package only can be deploy with the E1 installed.


Several ways of deploying package to client :
- Push installation can bypass user interaction - Before using it, all the machine must be defined in P9654A.
   note : not applicable to server

- JDE E1 workstation installation  for full package only
- P9631 deployment director for full package and update package
- deployment director can be used to schedule when the package will be installed into fat client
- can be mandatory installation where user can't bypass the process.
 - deploying through workstation installation CD which contain latest package

How to deploy in group?
-P9652A deployment group where you can define a group of machines to receive a package..Eg..production group, testing group
-P9654A location is a group of worksations and servers corresponds to physical location.  Eg. TownA

note: F9650 machine master - machine record will be created upon sign on to the machine
Otherwise, use P9654A to manually create machine record in this table..


P9631 Deployment Director :
- schedule a package - revise deployment option - activate package - install package
- deployment destination (server ,workstation, group, location)
- package can be optional or mandatory
