Data source and the environment

Data source are divided into database data source and logic data source.

JDE data source - define where you process the data and logic (function)

data source types: object librarian,data dictionary,local,system,business data,

it's used for distributed processing (each workstation's logic), server map (system table), control table (User-defined-code,Next Number, menu),central objects (F98950 - user overide table)and version ..

How do they connect to databases ?
JDE uses JDEBASE to talk to different dbs Eg. MS SQL - ODBC,  Oracle - OracleNet
UBE (batch application) run in webserver uses JDBC to connect to database

F986101 - Server map - is used when UBE is processed against server

F98611 - Data source master file - Eg. Data source name = business data - prod
